TUNGS

Genre: TBA

Richmond, Virginia’s TUNGS began in 2006 as a project between dear friends Paul Himmelman and Ben Miller.  After the two self-released efforts of “Colours” and “Bright Music/Dark Room,” Himmelman was involved in a major car accident and confined to his parents house.  During that era, the duo added Alex Criqui and cut the “Lights Out EP,” bringing forth a solid union later cemented with Drew Halligan, leading to the creation of “sleeping,” TUNGS most perfect statement yet.

Samplers spew child horror jibberish, strummed electrics clip the melodies, the bass straight blurts power and the fuzz from the microphone nearly hides the spectral soars and stylish tossed-off pleas that litter “sleeping.”  They’re luring you in!

The album masterfully sounds like they walked up and just started playing, as if TUNGS are the lucky recipients of a god-given bum rush of a trippy record.  It aims to explore the contrasts of dreams and reality.  May we all be thankful.

The group is in the process of planning a tour, recording a 7” by the years end, and an EP in 2011.  Stay tuned.
